Obituary

Bernie Douglas Allred was born on January 29th, 1944 to Cecil Allred and Bernice Calvert. Bernie, an Arizona native was born in Safford Arizona and raised in Thatcher Arizona. He was the youngest of two sons. Bernie was a follower of Christ, loving husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and a friend to all he met. After he graduated from Thatcher High School, Bernie was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Vietnam though radio communications. After returning home, Bernie moved to Tucson to find employment and eventually to the Sahuarita-Green Valley area of Arizona. Working at the Anaconda/Anamax copper mine as a heavy-duty equipment mechanic and operator for nearly 30 years until the mine shut down. While working at the mines he met and worked with Betty Jo’s dad, George Perkins and the rest of the story is history. At his passing he served as a faithful member and Trustee at Desert View Baptist Church. He was a deer hunter who loved the outdoors and his little Ranch-o-Neglecto. He often entertained children with his Donald Duck impersonations. Bernie is survived by his wife Betty Jo of 42 years; his brother, Larry Allred and wife Lynne of Safford: son, Brian Allred and wife Tammy of Nampa Idaho: Daughter, Barbara Allred also of Nampa Idaho; Stepson, Pastor George Perkins and wife Shelly of Kingman Arizona; Four grandchildren- Ian Perkins, Alonda Ravenberg, Isaac Perkins, and Amber Perkins; along with In-laws, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and multiple great and great-great nieces and nephews.
