Hacklene Culling, (78) of Tucson, died Friday, May 14, 2021 at her home in Tucson, AZ. She was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 24, 1941 to Hack and Emma Mae Townsend. She started her career as a schoolteacher (following her mother’s footstep’s) in Baker City, Oregon. Soon after, she moved to Arizona to help support her aging parents and continued her career with the San Fernando School district. Although she loved to teach, she had a yearning of becoming a successful business owner and opened a Mexican food restaurant named “El Tejano”, a nickname giving to her father years prior in the small town of Arivaca, Arizona, where her family lived. Maintaining her passion for teaching, she made the decision to close the restaurant and teach once again. She finished her career with the Nogales School district. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Michael, Devin, Kevin, Trevor, Hack, Caleb, Emma, Katie, and Jesse and three grandchildren: Alexis, Hudson, and Jaxon. She was married to my father. For a short period of time. I lived with her briefly. She was cruel in so many ways to me. Im glad she's passed. Wish her nothing but the best. This woman? One of my worst nightmares. Glad I can say this. Sure you won't post it. But Gosh it was healing. This woman? A monster.
Hacklene and my mother, Evangeline Peterson Cowan, were first cousins. I met Hacklene when she attended my mother’s funeral with her mother, Emma Mae, in 1992. Hacklene was charming and a fun storyteller. She shared family stories of life in Arizona. She will be missed.
Dear Danny and Stan, So very sorry to hear of Hacklene’s passing. I will always remember the time that I went over to the house and made tamales. She was a generous and wonderful person. She will be truly missed.
Dear Danny and boys! I am so sorry for your loss! I am truly sorry that I was not able to get there. By the time I found out when the services were there just wasn't time for me to change things around to get there. I know what that kind of loss is and I am so sorry!! She was truly one of my very favorite cousins! Growing up we always had a great deal of fun at Grandmother Allen's house during holidays.
