Obituary

In loving memory of Cynthia F. Douglass, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who passed away suddenly on August 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband, Ronald, and son, Michael. Cindi’s departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her loved ones and all who knew her. Grief of those who loved her is tempered by the knowledge that Cindi’s spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering love.

Cindi was born on August 10, 1950, in Dearborn, Michigan to her loving parents, Leo Bozek, and mother, Priscila Bozek (nee Balla) who preceded her in death.

Cindi met Ron, the love of her life, at the tender age of 17 on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. It was love at first sight (and kiss). Two years later Ron and Cindi married on February 28, 1970, and at the youthful age of 20 started their family with the birth of their first son, Michael, in that same year. Over the next five years two more sons were added to the family, Scott and Mark. The family complete, the life adventures just beginning.

Cindi is survived by Ron, her husband, and their three sons, Michael, Scott, Mark, and Michael’s wife, Tiffany. Cindi’s greatest joy came from being a grandmother to Claire, Anne Cate, Emma, and Evan. Cindi taught her children the power of unconditional love and the importance of living without judgement—values that will continue to guide her family for generations. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Susan May and Joyce Papalia, and her brother, Rick Bozek.

Cindi shared a marriage of 55 years with Ron. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, resilience, a love for any card or board game and many fun filled vacations with their boys. Cindi was a woman of adventure and one of her fondest memories was a photo safari to Africa, which she took with her girlfriends. She returned with many stories and gifts from the wives of tribal leaders she met along the way. She never tired of sharing stories of her adventures; her storytelling was so vivid that after years of listening to them Ron felt like he had been on the trip!

Cindi found happiness on the open fairways of a golf course, the depths of the ocean scuba diving, and the serenity of snorkeling clear waters. Her passion for exploration was matched only by her love of art and crafting which remained a constant thread throughout her life. Stained glass, ceramics, pottery, painting, jewelry making and mosaics were a progression of artforms she indulged in continuously. Cindi once owned a ceramic studio where she taught others some of her skills.

Some of the happiest times of her life were the years she spent with the ladies’ league at Boulder Ridge Country Club (BRCC). The friendships forged through many competitions and hilarious times with her “Golf Gals” provided her with endless stories to tell. With her partner, Jan Schneider, they managed to “win everything” as her friends lamented. In addition to enjoying golf with the gals, she also enjoyed playing the game with Ron. So much so that they won four club championships together: permanently earning a place in the history books of BRCC.

Cindi’s legacy is one of kindness, giving of herself to others, acceptance, and grace. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege to know her. To celebrate her life a memorial service will be held at Chapelstreet Church – South Campus on Monday September 15, 2025 in Geneva, Illinois. The address of the church is 2300 South Street, Geneva, IL 60134. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with the service to follow at 11:00am.
