David Shane Kampen, 67, of Tucson AZ ascended with the angels, Sunday, December 29, 2024. David was born in Iowa, living in Tucson over 50 years. David is preceded in heaven by parents Lucille M. Gordon and Orville A Kampen. In addition, stepbrother Garry Johnson, S.D; brothers Michael Kampen, NV; and William “Dean” Kampen of Tucson, AZ. David is survived by sister Bonita “Bonnie” Cowen of IN. Also survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcia Pickell Kampen, legacies Jessica N. Kampen, Sarah R. Franklin (Stephen), and Elizabeth A. Hamm (Dustin) all of Tucson. Cherished granddaughters Grace E Hill, Ella R. Hill, Olivia L. Kampen, and Lucille “Lucy” Hamm all of Tucson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
David was a dedicated employee of Pima County Natural Resources as a Parks Maintenance Tech, maintaining the grounds and keeping a safe place for everyone’s children, in excess of 30 years, and nine years at The Groundskeeper as their ninth employee hire.
David’s first love was for his wife, his daughters, and granddaughters. He had a love for fishing, boating, building, and doing for others. He held close all those that crossed his path, enhancing his life.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held early this spring. Notification of place, date, and time will be made.
He is home.
