It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, father, husband and friend Derrick Lamont Bridges who left us on January 27th, 2025. Derrick is survived by his mother Jerlina Ellis, wife Merva (Douglas), daughter Naomi, brothers Charles and Stephen, and sister Veneda as well as many extended family. He was born at Davis Monthan Airforce Base on May 21st, 1967 to Jerlina Ellis and James Bridges. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8th at Mt Olive Church of God in Christ, 403 E Lee Street at 10:00am. We all love and miss him very much.
I was trying to reconnect with Merva and I saw this online. I was shocked to read this information. <3 My prayers are with you and your family. This is Cindy from Alabama and her mom and dad were friends with my mom and dad.

An absolute heartfelt condolence to Merv, Naomi and the entire family. His memory will bring all of you great comfort. Derrick was a great friend, we had so many good times together, I’ll miss him.
I just TODAY learned of Derrick's passing. He and I were high school classmates and friends. Last time I saw Derrick was in 2000 and he and his wife were living in the Bay Area like me. May God and the Universe wrap all left behind in his infinite love.
May God be with you during this time of sadness and grief. God has another star shining bright in heaven and one day you will see him again. Hold on, stay strong and always remember the good times.
Condolences to my sweet niece Naomi, Sister-in-law Merva, Mother-in-law Jeri and my dear husband Stephen. Derrick was one of a kind and I am blessed to have known him. May his soul rest well and his light continue to shine through his loved ones. Prayers for the entire family!

Although his words were few, you could never doubt his deep love for his wife, daughter and his family. His laughter and smile were infectious. Be comforted in that love that never changed.
