Obituary

Diana Lynn Olds, 74, passed away on September 3, 2020 at Northwest Hospital. Diana, who went by Lynn, was born on April 2, 1946 in Bakersfield, California to Alton and Lorena(Benjamin) Terry. She was the 3rd of 7 children. Lynn was raised in Chickasaw, Oklahoma and McFarland, California. She was part of the graduating class of 1964 at McFarland High.

In February 1964, Lynn became pen pals through friends with Larry Dean Olds who was in the Air Force stationed in San Antonio. They continued to write each other and finally met for the 1st time in December 1965. Less than a month later on January 8, 1966 they were married in Wells, Nevada. After that they moved to Fairfield, California where Larry was stationed. Larry left the Air Force in 1968 and they moved around to Topeka, Kansas and Wichita, Kansas before deciding to settle down in Tucson, Arizona in 1971. In 1974, they decided to lay down roots in the Picture Rocks Community. Larry and Lynn in this time also became parents to Timothy, Theresa and Toby.

Lynn was very proud of her Chickasaw Native American Heritage and spent many years researching her family’s genealogy. Lynn also had a couple of jobs as a supervisor but what she really loved the most was raising her children. In the 70s and 80s she was a Baseball Manager for her son’s Major Little League team and also became a 4H Leader. Lynn also travelled with her husband while he rode horses in endurance rides and also joined a bowling league. She got the opportunity to witness 3 out of 4 of her grandsons be born and even shared a birthday with one. As an avid Nascar Fan she enjoyed watching the races every Sunday on TV and Saturdays she would be out at the track to watch her sons’ and grandsons’ race. Lynn was their #1 Fan. Lynn attended her grandchildren’s numerous school activities and programs and was their loudest cheerleader at their soccer, baseball, basketball and football games.
In later years Lynn enjoyed playing Dominos with friends, designing lawn art, traveling to historical areas and staying at Bed and Breakfast establishments with her husband and getting great deals on yard sales every week.

Lynn’s passing has left a big hole in her family’s lives but they feel lucky to have had her as a wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. Her spirit will live forever through them.

Diana Lynn Olds is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Dean Olds, her sons’ Timothy Olds, Toby(Amanda) Olds, her daughter Theresa Guerin(Paul, dec), grandchildren Mikey(Casey) Olds, Matt(Chelsea) Olds, Brandon Olds, Tyler(Caitlyn) Olds, step-grandchildren Adam and Sarah Heath, great-grandchildren Isabelle, Landon, Madisyn, Paytynn, Sadie and Leighton. She will be remembered by her siblings Wayne, Noma, Keith, Rex, Dorena and numerous nieces and nephews. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Lorena Terry, brother Tommy Terry, son-in-law Paul Guerin and her loving and loyal dog, Poodleboy.

Diana Lynn Olds had expressed her wishes over the years to her family that she wanted to be cremated and didnt want a memorial service. Lynn’s family have chosen to respect her wishes. Instead she wanted her family and friends to just be there for each other in their time of grief and remember she lived a full life but now it’s time for her to go home to Heaven and rest. Diana Lynn Olds will forever be in our hearts and minds.

I'm so sorry for Lynn's passing. We worked together, went bowling and did the endurance rides. We became neighbors back in the early 80's. She even babysat my kids. She was a spunky and straightforward character. Will miss her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew her grandson Matt in elementary school, I would not have made it without him. He was one of the kindest kids and I'm sure without a doubt that his grandma had a huge play in that! ❤❤ You are all in our hearts!!!
