Obituary

Eleanore G. Houser was born on January 31, 1952, in Altenmüster, Germany. She spent her early school years growing up and moving around the East Coast before settling in Tucson during her junior year of high school. She was proud to be part of the very first graduating class of Saguaro High School.

Eleanore was married to the love of her life, Bernie Houser, for 45 years. Together they built a family that was the center of her world. She was a devoted and loving mother to three children: Melissa (Louie) Valenzuela, Rachel Houser, and Anthony Houser. Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her three beloved grandchildren—Isabella, Lucia, and Benjamin—who truly were the lights of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Agnes Tucker. She is survived by her siblings, Lorraine Neill (Tom), Christine Webb (Craig), Lawrence Tucker, Jr. (Joanna), and Margaret Nevarez. She is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Eleanore dedicated 40 years of service to the Pima College Bookstores, retiring in 2014. Her strong work ethic, reliability, and care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.

She loved horses, flowers of any type but especially sunflowers, naps on the beach, spending time with her family, and caring for her grandchildren. Eleanore had the biggest heart and an unmistakable presence—she was a force to be reckoned with. Known affectionately for her sass and strength, she was truly “sassy pants” in the best possible way, and she will be remembered for her fierce love, loyalty, and larger-than-life personality.
