Eugene E. Wiley

Eugene Euzelle Wiley was born in Lakewood, New Jersey on December 28, 1937 to Euzelle Wiley, Sr. and Marjorie Durant. He had a large family.

Eugene was fondly known as Sonny and graduated from Lakewood High School.  Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he was a Corporal.  During his time in The Marines he was on Active Duty and served during The Korean War.  He later married Lucy Key and was a loving and caring father to 4 daughters – Valerie, Judy, Constance and Bridget. He relocated from Lakewood, Ocean County, NJ to East Orange, NJ back in the early 60’s whereby he worked for United Parcel Service aka UPS.  He excelled at this job and later on down the road, Eugene also worked for the Army as he was also a member of The National Guard and was a Sergeant. He later divorced and remarried later becoming a Widower.

As a member of Little Zion UAME Church in Belleville, NJ, Eugene drove the church van and always told the children to be ready at pick up time and to always speak when they got in the van.  He read his Bible and lived accordingly to The Word as a Christian man.

He loved listening to music, was an avid reader, watching sports especially baseball, swimming at The Jersey Shore and eating good food. Eugene was a very good provider for his family and a real family man. He believed in justice and civil rights too.

After retiring at age 55, Eugene later relocated permanently in 2001 to Tucson, Arizona. He worked the Polls while in Arizona for several years and also was a School Crossing Guard.

Beloved Eugene is survived by his children, grand & great-grandchildren and dear friend Norma Mann. He will be remembered forever.
