Timeline for Jerold Small
JEROLD MAYER SMALL
June 27, 1946 – October 24, 2025
Jerry was born June 27, 1946 in Nowalk, MA. He spent his early years in the Boston area, joined the boy scouts, and was Bar Mitzvah’d at 13. His parents were not real religious, but he said every year they got all dressed up to attend high holy Days, but most years, his dad would just take them for a nice long drive. He worshiped his mother and spoke of her often.
After high school he joined the Air Force 1966 -1970 and was stationed at Davis Monthan in Tucson AZ. Quite a change from Boston. He was proud of his time in the service and completed two tours in Vietnam. He and his two best friends Ross POtoff and Marv Brozell were part of the 100th Air Missile Maintenance Squadron. While in Vietnam they were Aero Space Photographic Repair or missile airmen. They were decorated with the Rocket 40250 and called Scorers.
In AZ he met and married Mary Ann – and they had a son Eddie. Sadly the marriage ended and he then married Diane Sinykin and they had three boys, James, Robert, and Corey. He loved his boys, all four of them and had Eddie on the weekends and took him with on trips to Disney land etc.
Jerry worked as a salesman at various jobs and even sold cars for a time in Phoenix. He returned to Tucson after he and Diane divorced and went to work for Hughes. He liked his job and was the Union Stewart. He attended college and wanted to be an engineer.
He had planned to start a business with Ross and Marv, but never got it off the ground, He learned to be a Ferrier and shoed many a horse while living in Marana. He enjoyed having the boys down on the weekends for BBQ’s & riding the four wheelers.
After retiring from Hughes he started a moving company and a landscaping business. He always said his greatest accomplishment was his 4 sons.
Jerry is preceeded in death by his parents, Richard David Small and Zulma Louise Small. He is survived by his first wife, MaryAnn Rosales; his second wife, Diane (Sinykin); sons, Eddie (Grace) Small, James (Audra) Small, Robert, (Connie) Small and Corey (Lisa) Small; 10 grandchildren, Eddie Jr, Marc, Dan, Emily, Sarah, Lillian, Sophia, Isabella, Madilyn, & Addison Small; 2 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Lincoln; and a brother, Sheldon.
Jerry will be laid to rest with military honors on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Marana. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the VA Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
