Obituary

In Loving Memory of JoBeth “Jody” HensonAugust 8, 1946 – March 2, 2025

JoBeth Henson, lovingly known as Jody to her friends, lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family and faith. Born on August 8, 1946, in Marietta, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of Lowell and Geneva Ballard. She grew up alongside her sisters, Layne and Cindy, forming a bond of love and friendship that lasted a lifetime.

At just 15 years old, JoBeth met the love of her life, Ronnie Henson. Their love story spanned an incredible 62 years of marriage, a testament to their deep commitment and unwavering devotion to one another. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their two sons, Jeff and Keith. Their family grew as Keith married Lisa, and together they welcomed three sons—Christian (married to Kayla), Nick, and Zack. Jeff was blessed with two daughters, Georgia and Ellie, all of whom were the joy of JoBeth’s life. She was also adored by her many nieces and nephews, who cherished the love and kindness she always showed them.

A large part of JoBeth and Ronnie’s lives was spent working at the Bar J in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, during the summers, where they embraced the Western lifestyle and made lifelong friends. She was a great lover of music, and whether through song or dance, she found joy in its ability to bring people together. Her passion for collecting antiques, especially her treasured Jadeite pieces, and her love for clogging reflected her adventurous and fun-loving spirit. Outgoing and talkative, she never met a stranger and was always ready to share a laugh or a story.

Faith was the foundation of JoBeth’s life. Named after Job in the Bible, she displayed his same patience and tolerance, teaching those around her how to love others unconditionally. She loved Jesus and her church, and she lived out her favorite scripture, Jeremiah 29:11, trusting in God’s plan for her life. Her greatest lesson to those around her was the importance of family—she cherished every moment with her loved ones.

JoBeth and Ronnie made their home in the breathtaking desert landscapes of Arizona, where they enjoyed the beauty of nature and the peacefulness of the outdoors. She was also deeply patriotic, holding a great love for her country and the freedoms it represents. She was well-loved by her family, friends, and community, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Northside Church of Christ on March 7th at 3:00 PM, with a viewing at 2:00 PM. A private family graveside service will take place in Marietta, Georgia, where she will be laid to rest at Kennesaw Memorial Park.

JoBeth’s love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Though she is gone, her legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
