Obituary

Kenneth “Pop” Rhein

April 26, 1957 ~ February 20, 2022

Kenneth Rhein, 64, passed away February 20, 2022.  Ken was born April 26, 1957 to Carl & Elise Rhein in Rahway, NJ.  The family moved to Arizona in 1960, so Ken grew up in Tucson.  Ken is preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Lucas.  He is survived by his wife, Marta, sons Karl (Tammy), Kyle (Jessica), Kelsey (Rachelle), sister Anita Velasco (Richard), brother Steven (Karen) and nine grandchildren.

Ken served his community for 30 years, first by working with the Flowing Wells Fire Department and later for the Avra Valley Department where he rose to rank of Captain.  He later joined the Pima County Sheriff’s Department as a Corrections Officer.

Ken loved his family and was very involved in all their activities.  He could be found at baseball games for his sons and later grandsons, and recitals for his granddaughters.  He was always there to do what needed to be done for his family.

Like his father, Ken had a love for animals.  As a child he dug under fences to let the neighbor’s dogs into his yard so he could play with them.  He could go to the store and come home with a stray cat or dog.  He just could not turn his back on anyone or any animal in need.  With a kind smile, he was always there to help.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday March 12 2022 at Marana Mortuary, 12146 W. Barnett Rd, Marana AZ 85653.   In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to an animal rescue of your choice.

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. I remember him as a 3-year-old when you guys left Readington and then met again in the early '70s. My heart goes out to all he left behind especially Anita and Steven.
