Obituary

Peter (Pete) Q. Ramirez, Jr. was a native-born Tucsonan and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War era who peacefully went to Heaven after battling cancer for 2.5 months.
Pete was born on November 22, 1932 to Pedro L. Ramirez and Ernestina Q. Ramirez. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Socorro M. Ramirez. His surviving children are Peter M. Ramirez, Patricia M. Young, Alex (Rachel) Ramirez, Carlos M. (Lori) Ramirez, and John M. (Lisa) Ramirez; his 12 grandchildren Peter John Ramirez IV, Daniel Bowerman, James Young, Alex Ramirez, Derek Ramirez, Ryan Ramirez, Carlos Ramirez, Celina (Ernie) Leyva, Noelle A. Ramirez, Ian Ramirez, Delanie Ramirez, Camille Ramirez; and 8 great grandchildren Julien Ramirez, Jesse Ramirez, Dylan Bowerman, Valerie Ramirez, Amora Rose Leyva, Azaleia Lou Leyva, Noelle Ramirez.
Pete was a devoted Catholic who attended seminary in 1949 to become a priest, but he completed his education at Tucson High School during which he worked for Greyhound Bus Lines. After graduating in 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served for 4 years aboard the USS Romulus and was honorably discharged in 1956. After the Navy, Pete resumed work at Greyhound Bus Lines for 47 years up to retirement in 1998.
It was on June 7th, that Pete married Socorro and together they reached their 67th wedding anniversary.
Pete was a proud veteran and he never left home without wearing his Korean War Navy Veteran ballcap. He was an avid fan of the University of Arizona Wildcats and he would not miss a game accompanied always by his wife Socorro.
Pete maintained his yard meticulously. He also held the roles of husband, father, and grandfather devotedly. And given his great love and commitment to his family, he will be missed tremendously.
The younger siblings of Pete include his sole surviving sister Carmen (Alan) Percy, and Carlos (Gloria) Ramirez [d.], Mary (Gene) Trujillo [d.], Adela (Robert) Borboa [d.].

May Pete rest in eternal paradise and sincerest condolences from the Rico family. Our dear neighbor for more than 25 years, growing up with the Ramirez family was like family of our own, as a part of the Menlo Park neighborhood, our parents were the staples that kept us binded. Please give your mom a huge hug from us all and may God continue to give her strength during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Pete, at his home. I'll always remember him, his strong Honorable look, but tired look at the same time. I asked Pete how he was doing he replied he was ok. Rest in peace Pete, God Bless you

Peter, on behalf of my entire family, we were all saddened to hear about the passing of your dad, however; we are joyful in knowing that he is resting comfortably with our Lord in Heaven . Your dad was always a decent and pleasant man in the many decades that I had the pleasure of knowing him.
