Obituary

Russell departed to his heavenly home on January 13, 2018. He was born in Iron River, Michigan on May 30, 1925. He attended local schools and received a graduation diploma from high school there in 2002. He sacrificed a diploma in 1942 to enlist in the United States Army and defend our country in World War II.

He was self-employed in the automotive industry for the majority of his working years and taught his family the value of strong and honest work ethics. In retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at a senior center where his skills were valuable to repair donated items.

He has resided in Arizona since 1960, living in Star Valley and Tucson. He was a member of the Mt. Cross Lutheran Church, the Oro Valley American Legion, and the Republican Party.

Russell’s warm smile and gentle spirit will be sadly missed by his daughters, Charlene (Robert Anderson), Lois Longrie, June (Randy Reynolds), grandchildren Mark, Michele, Robert, Michael, Renee, and Christopher and 16 great- grandchildren, a stepdaughter, Sally (Don Fiorani), stepdaughter-in-law, Kazuko Mylchreest, 10 step grandchildren, 22 step great-grandchildren, 5 step great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Helen, his parents Albert and Beda, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 stepchildren, and one step granddaughter.

A memorial service and internment will be held on February 9th at 1 pm at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 15950 N. Luckett Road, Marana, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Careportal, a foster care program, or Casa de La Luz Hospice.
