Obituary

Richard (Dick) Lee Karkau, 73 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. He was taken by the Lord in his sleep.

Richard was born on June 22, 1943 in Lansing, MI to the late Martin and Helen Karkau. He was the oldest of 3 children, his sister Marilyn, who resides in Colorado and his brother Kenneth, who was called to heaven before him. Richard married Beverly DeLahr in 1983 in Mesa, AZ. They had two children, Laura and Anna. Richard also has 3 children from a previous marriage; Mike, Julie, and Brian.

Richard and Beverly have resided in Tucson, AZ for the last 15 years. Richard loved spending time with his family and was very devoted to the church and served on many committees. In his spare time he loved camping, hunting and archery, working on his trucks, reading, sitting by the chiminea, and being outside. He also spent 3 years active duty in the US Army as a GM explosive and propellant specialist, after which he went to school for his architectural license and practiced for approximately 45 years. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

Richard is survived by his wife (Beverly), sister (Marilyn), his five children (Michael, Julie, Brian, Laura, and Anna), two grandchildren (Pasha and Caleb), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8: 38-39
