Fireman 2nd Class William K. Shafer, a TRUE American hero, passed away December 7, 1941 in the attack on Pearl Harbor, HI while serving on the USS Oklahoma.  Mr. Shafer was recently identified and returned to his family for his final resting place.


Survived by Anya Owens, nee Shafer (Niece) Spouse Harry Owens, Pia Mellody, nee Shafer (Niece), Pam Adams, nee Shafer (Niece), Nina Fickett, nee Castaldi (Great Niece) Spouse Brian Fickett, Dionne Gordon, nee Castaldi (Great Niece) Spouse Allan Gordon, Benjamin Blakeley (Great Nephew), Daniel Blakeley (Great Nephew), Jane Flynn (Great Niece), Tim Flynn (Great Nephew), Batya Reynolds (Great Great Niece) Spouse Daniel, Kayleigh McGuire Great Great Niece, Cricket McGuire Great Great Niece, CJ Gordon Great Great Nephew.


Mr. Shafer will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 9:00 am in the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Marana with full military honors.
