Brenda Kay Deaton, dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on July 11th, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 83.
Born in Rockmart, Georgia on February 7, 1942 to Robert Clarence Blalock, Sr. and Zula Thompson-Blalock. She is preceded in death by both her parents, her son Todd Charles Deaton, and her beloved brother Robert Clarence Blalock, Jr.
Kay is survived by: her daughter Dana Kay Deaton of Tucson, Arizona, son Virgil Autry (Mary)Deaton of Richmond Hill, Georgia, 3 grandchildren Caitlyn Stewart of Savannah, Georgia, Shelbie (Tyler) Deaton – Ricketson of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Hayden (Rod) Deaton – Morris of Vidalia, Georgia, 4 great-grandchildren Ryan, Ellis, Hazel & Charlotte, her sisters Gail Blalock Helton, Becky (Bill) Gates, and Cheryl Blalock, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kay was a strong and spirited woman who worked hard, but also loved to go on big adventures with her children. She was a gifted storyteller and loved to share stories of her growing up in rural Georgia. As her kids grew up and moved away. Kay followed her daughter to Arizona to start a new adventure and never could be talked into moving back to Georgia.
There are no services planned for Kay at this time. Just keep her loving memory alive in the beautiful stories that you tell of her.
