Obituary

Carolyn Joan (Garner) Jackson, 86, of Frankton, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19th, 2025. She was born in Matthews, IN, to Dale and Nettie Garner on April 4, 1939.

She was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 64 years, Wayne L. Jackson, whom she married in 1959. She was also met by her parents, Dale and Nettie (Harmon) Garner, her sister and brother-in-law Jack and Janet Leavitt, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ed and Wanda Durr, sister-in-law Callie Jackson, brother-in-law Marvin Jackson, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her grandchildren, Hope and Hayden Brinson, and other unnamed grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also greeted her.

Joan was a dedicated homemaker and a successful entrepreneur. She owned a dog grooming business for over 20 years, sold custom-fit apparel and prostheses for breast cancer patients, and sold Reliv supplements.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Joan served the Lord Jesus Christ at the Frankton Christian Church for many years, later attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Anderson, and finally worshipped online with Heartland Church while she and Wayne were homebound.

Joan and Wayne were blessed with three children: Dwaine (Regina) Jackson, Dana (Jay) Jerrils, and Dea Ann (Ted) Brinson. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Kathryn (Adam) Freeman, Lewis (Melanie) Jerrils, Lauren (Kolin) Hayes, Rachel Jackson, Hannah (Tomas) Ruiz, Hunter Brinson, Harmon Brinson, and Helayna Brinson. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Witten and Landry Freeman, Sophia and Isabella Jerrils, Ezra and Elias Hayes, and Eden and Elisha Ruiz and baby Ruiz on the way.

Joan’s greatest joy was knowing her entire family loved and served the Lord as much as she did. Her prayer list was a mile long. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent hours reading to them and teaching them about Jesus. Joan was an excellent pie maker with her very own crust recipe. She loved making homemade chicken and noodles and helping Wayne make fried rice for the family for holidays.

Visitation will be held 10:30 – 11:00 AM with services beginning at 11:00 AM, Aug 9, 2025, at Heartland Church’s Chapel, 14900 126th St, Fishers, IN 46037.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Adaptive Program, Heartland Kids Special Needs Ministry, 14900 126th St, Fishers, IN 46037, or Liberty Christian School, 2323 Columbus Ave, Anderson, IN 46016.
