Obituary

Bernice Venus Elias Lewis, was born April 14, 1963, at Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan. Married to John Lewis and mother to Jason Watson (Danielle), Melody Hensley (Justin Cotterell), and John D. Lewis, Jr. (Tater).  Grandmother to Addisyn Joy, Kambri Ann, Ivie Mae, Thain and an additional granddaughter coming soon! Her parents were Robert Elias and Barbara Hogan. Siblings: Diane, Robert, Randy, and Richard.

Berni, 61, passed away April 12th, 2024, at her home in Marana, AZ. She was born into a military family and moved often – settling in Tucson as a young girl where she attended Canyon del Oro High School, afterwards moving to Idaho for a season.  She was employed with Walmart for over 25 years. She really enjoyed gardening, riding ATV’s, camping and being near the ocean. She loved her kids deeply. She was a phenomenal grandmother. She loved her grandbabies and took the time to know them individually and had a genuine love for each of them.

Berni had so many friends who she loved whole heartedly – if you knew her you would agree she was our “no filter girl” with a heart of gold. In her dash (referring to the dash between her birth and death) she worked hard, loved well, made mistakes, and was the real deal. She will be so missed.

Hebrews 12:1 says “…. run the race with endurance. The race that is set before us.” That is exactly what she did too. As a born-again believer in Jesus – she now has no more pain or struggles. Just peace in heaven.

There has not been a memorial service set at this time. In lieu of flowers she would ask that donations be made to The Community Christian Church in Marana at http://cccmarana.org/.

Bernice was the most giving, caring, grumpy and loving sister friend to me. She stole my heart and I loved her so much. She will be missed by many. I look forward to seeing her in Heaven. I love you BBB. P.S. Bernice, when I arrive in Heaven, please oh please don't ask GOD, what the heck is she doing here! ♥️
