Brigitta Laker Bement

My wonderful glamorous mother, Brigitta Laker Bement passed away on November 29, 2023.  Mom was born in Germany leaving her home country in her mid-20s to come to America and learn English in the hopes of later becoming a translator.  She met and married my dad, John Bement on February 8, 1964.  Having two children, Mom’s life was full in addition to careers caring for dogs running a dog kennel in our home state of Maryland along with keeping the books for my dad during his final phase of work building custom homes.  Mom had many lasting friends several that saw her as a second mother who now grieve with me.  Mom had a deep love of animals meeting many of her neighborhood friends while walking her beloved dog, Skippy.  She had a deep love of the United States being so proud to become a citizen.  Mom’s lasting legacy was her kindness to everyone that took care of her in the various hospitals and rehabs and finally in her home.  She is now survived by her daughter Blanka, her son-in-law Jerry and her granddaughter Bailey.
