Charlene Wichman of Tucson, Arizona, who graced this world for an incredible 95 years and once called Akron, Ohio, her home, peacefully departed on October 16, 2023. Her memory lingers like a precious, timeless gem, forever cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Charlene is survived by her devoted husband, James Wichman, with whom she shared 72 years of unwavering love and partnership. She leaves behind a legacy that extends through her son, Mark, and her daughter, Betsy (Bruce) Cochran. Her nurturing and loving presence extended to the next generations as she was a beloved grandmother to Jen, Char (Jo), Zach, and Dylan Wichman, as well as Matthew and Michael (Alex) Cochran. Charlene was also a proud great-grandmother to Margaret Stern. Preceded in death by Margaret G. Wichman, daughter-in-law. Though her earthly journey has ended, the love and lessons she shared with her family will continue to guide them through life.
In her earlier years, Charlene’s career path led her to Charles Stevens in Chicago, where she served as a bridal consultant. Her dedication to community and service was also evident in her role as the president of the Women’s Association of Robinson Memorial Hospital.
She possessed a natural talent for interior decorating, and she harnessed her skills to create her own successful business known as “Finishing Touch.” Additionally, her passion for floral design brought beauty and joy to countless special occasions.
Charlene found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her love for reading was a lifelong pursuit, and her bookshelves were a testament to her inquisitive mind. The camaraderie of bridge games was not just a pastime; it was an opportunity to strengthen bonds with friends. Travel was also a significant source of happiness, as she explored new places and cultures with a sense of adventure and wonder.
While Charlene’s earthly journey has come to a close, her spirit remains with us, residing eternally in our hearts and in the cherished memories we hold dear. Her legacy of love, service, and creativity will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched. In honoring her memory, we are reminded of the beauty she brought into the world and the enduring impact of her presence.
