Obituary

Charles (Chuck) William Griffith, MSgt USAF (Retired) of Tucson, Arizona passed away unexpectedly in the late evening at his skilled nursing facility on Sunday, February 10th, 2019 at the age of 66.  He was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1952.  Hours before he passed, his wife Cheryl, and son Cody had the opportunity to visit with him.  They gave him kisses, encouragement, and told him they loved him.  They were extremely thankful they had the chance to see him before he passed.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl (Cheri) Lydamore Griffith, his son Cody Griffith, his daughter-in-law Lindsey Griffith, and granddaughter Abbigayle Griffith.  Grandpa Chuck was very excited to learn before he passed that his unborn grandson, due mid-May 2019, will be named Britt Charles Griffith in honor of him.  His family meant the world to him, and he was an awesome grandpa!

Chuck is also survived by three brothers, Richard Griffith of Washington, Michael Griffith of Ohio, and Joe Ellis of California.  His two sisters Judi and Jeanne, and his parents preceded him in death.

Chuck retired from the USAF in 1994 after many years of faithful service, and the USPS in 2013.  Upon retirement, he had planned on traveling the world with his wife and following his favorite baseball team, the Detroit Tigers.  Unfortunately, an illness kept him from his plans.  Other than watching baseball, sports, and movies, he enjoyed reading and spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.  Chuck and Cody discussed many different topics and shared words of wisdom often.  He also enjoyed a good game of chess with his son – which he usually won.  He loved Tucson’s beautiful sunsets and being surrounded by peaceful mountains.

He was a terrific husband, a great father, a loving brother, and a caring grandfather.  We love you, and we will miss you.  We will never forget the man you were and how proud you were of your family.  Rest in peace.

Military honors will be performed on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 at 11:30 at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 15950 N. Luckett RD., Marana, AZ.  The ceremony will be conducted at the outside Committal Shelter.

Dear Cheryl, Cody and the entire family, We are so very sorry to learn of Chuck's, your Dad's passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers each night. It's been said when we lose someone who we love so very much we've gained an angel in heaven to look over us. At this difficult time and in the days and years ahead, know that he is beside you each day. If there is anything I can do to offer support to the family, please let us know. With our deepest condolences, The Kennedy Family (Kathy, Ryan, Jackie, and Family)
