Obituary

Colette Cook Hasty was born December 9, 2023 at 11:23pm via emergency c-section in Austin, TX at Dell Children’s Hospital. Our perfect and precious angel met Jesus face-to-face in a whole body, at 9:03pm on December 11, 2023, at two days old.
Colette was diagnosed with a form of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and a chromosome difference of Trisomy 6p Unique. Our precious girl fought hard for 9 months, when every doctor said we should abort her and she wouldn’t make it another week. But every week turned into months, that turned into a full term pregnancy at 38w5d. Colette’s Mama and Daddy fought every step of the way for Colette’s life and Colette did, too. We’ve learned so much about fighting and new layers of love, thru our daughter Colette.
Colette was determined, like her name means (‘determined, victorious one’), to meet her Mama and Daddy. Her middle name, Cook, was after her Nani’s maiden name, which is also Colette’s Mama’s middle name. She was feisty in the NICU, even sedated, pulling out her lines and bandages and turning her head at her parent’s voices and opening her eye. She was little, at 4lbs 8oz and 16.5″ long, but her small stature was made up by her huge personality!
Her parents, Nana, and Gmaw

were able to spend the time with her on her last day on earth, when we were informed that the only place and staff willing to take her on was unable to operate on Colette, as her heart was weaker and more damaged than thought, her liver and other organs began to shut down, and her blood no longer was clotting. Her Mama and Daddy made the hardest decision to remove the vent, after they spent the day with Colette making memories. She passed with two small breaths, in her Mama’s arms and her Daddy stroking her head, with Colette’s Nani and Gmaw close by for comfort. No funeral service will be held for Colette, as her parents have decided to do something more private, just for family.
Colette was met in Heaven by her Great-Grandma Reed, Great-Grandpa Hasty and three Uncles.
Colette is survived by her parents, Corey and Nyssa (Reed) Hasty, of Sterling City, TX; her two siblings, Brea Nicole Hasty and Braydin Lee Charles Hasty; Uncle Richard Reed and Auntie Ashley Bright of Tucson, AZ; Uncle Colby, Auntie Amanda and cousin Grayson Hasty of Sterling City, TX; Nana and Grandpa, Debby and Dr. Ken Reed of Tucson, AZ; Gman and Gmaw, Chad and Cheryl Hasty of Sterling City, TX, Great-Grandma, Freddie Hasty of Sterling City, TX; Great-Grandpa, Ken Reed of Tucson, AZ, and many more family members of the Reed and Hasty families.
