On the morning of March 19th, 2023, Conrad Grady Bachelier passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family. He leaves behind his loving and faithful wife of 54 years, Nancy, his daughters Desiree (Mike) and Laurie, and only son Daniel (Evelyn). Conrad was also a proud grandfather to 6 boys: Jonathan, Brendan, Liam, Drew, Quinn and Kellen.
Born on March 6, 1940 at the Storks Nest maternity home in Tucson, Arizona to Conrad Alphonse and Cora Frances Bachelier, Conrad attended local schools, including Catalina High School, where he discovered his passion for tennis and became an active and competitive player throughout his life. He enlisted in the Navy, at the age of 18, and served our country for six years. Upon leaving the miliary, he attended the University of Arizona’s College of Architecture for three years, going on to work as a draftsman for Hughes Aircraft and lead technical illustrator for Kitt Peak Observatory before becoming self-employed. Conrad started Masterpieces, LLC, where he designed and built custom homes all over greater Tucson from the 1970’s. During his career, he proudly developed early sustainable measures of building by combining construction math with design art. Conrad was also a martial arts enthusiast, becoming a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and going on to teach others the art.
Some of Conrad’s other hobbies included writing a book, having Saturday morning coffee with friends, doing good deeds for those in need, and engaging in political discussions with both young and old unsuspecting adults at the gym and anyone else who would indulge. Speaking of the gym, he often regaled that he single handedly lifted more than 12 million pounds of weights per year, even into his 80’s. Passionate about politics and democracy, Conrad enjoyed conversing with others about current events and humanity. Whether you agreed with him on politics or not, one thing is for sure, Conrad’s heart was larger than all ours combined and it was felt by many. He was a man of incredible honor, living his life with honesty, loyalty and love. He is sorely missed. Please join us in celebrating his life with pictures, stories and political conversations as we raise a toast to our wonderful father. We love you dad!
