Daniel K Post, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on July 15, 2023, in Marana, Arizona. Dan was born on March 11, 1940 to Orville Kelvin Post “Bum” and Gertrude Naegle Post in Tucson, Arizona. Dan is survived by his loving spouse of 59 years, Patricia Phelps Post, and their eleven children: Tricia Fuller, Jennifer Buette, Jon Post, Dan Post, Polly Post, Carol Christensen, Del Post, Emily Brown, Mariann Alexander, Laura Post, and Melissa Zupi as well as his two brothers, John M. Post and Howard E. Post. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Post Welker. Dan leaves behind 42 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
While Dan was born in Tucson, he was raised in the Binghampton area; a community established along the Rillito River in 1916 where families of his faith had settled. On the corner lot of Dodge and Ft. Lowell, his parents built and ran a feedstore; the OK Post’s Feed and Supply which is still in operation today. Dan loved Binghampton and the opportunity it gave him to have a wonderful childhood.
In addition to being a farmer, rancher, team roper and community leader, Dan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a passion for serving in his church. After graduating from the University of Arizona in Ag Sciences in 1965, Dan and Patricia lived in Hereford and then Winkleman until their move to Marana in 1970 where together they spent their days and years farming, ranching, serving in their church, and raising a family of 11 children. For the past 50 years, Dan was a dedicated community leader whose love for the Marana area prompted him to serve on various boards to ensure a great community for all. He served on the Cortaro Marana Irrigation Board, the Marana Western Heritage Association, and Marana Schools’ 2340 Foundation. No doubt his greatest service to the community was as a school board member for over 40 years in the Marana Unified School District.
A friend to all throughout his life, Dan touched the hearts of many through his generosity, service, and dedication to his family and faith. Dan was loved and cherished by family members and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
The funeral service to honor Daniel K Post’s life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Marana LDS Chapel at 13555 N. Lon Adams Road, Marana, Arizona 85653. Public viewing is from 9:00 am to 11:30 am with funeral services starting at 12:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Marana Mortuary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Marana Schools’ 2340 Foundation Scholarship of which Dan was a strong supporter and advocate.
We will cherish the fond memories of our husband, father, grandfather and friend, as well as his legacy of service and dedication to family and faith that will live on. May God be with you till we meet again.
Our sincere condolences.

I just found out about Dan's passing. I liked his easy-going manner. I will miss him. I remember a funny story that he related about his daughters using hair spray. He said that they used so much hair spray that they made a hole in the ozone layer above their home. My condolences to all his family. Sincerely, Sam Robles
Danny and I knew each other since high school and he was always a wonderful wonderful person. We went to church together and Danny was a wonderful role model for the Marana school district and his family in the LDS church. I’ve been thinking of him for days and I decided to Google his name and that’s when I learned that he had made his transition to the other side. I’m sure heaven is very glad to have him. God bless all of his family members and I send you all of my best regards eternally.
So sorry to hear about Dan's passing. He was a wonderful person and I'm a better person for having known him. I remember he would come in at the feed yard and have some hay to sell. I also sat through Sunday School classes with him teaching. I learned a lot about the gospel from his classes. God bless him and his family during this time of grief. Know in your hearts that you will all be together again.
I had no idea of Dan's passing. I am sorry for your loss and had know Dan Post since moving to the Marana area 21 yrs ago. I used to buy feed from his feed store when it was on Maran Rd. The last time I spoke with him I knew he was not well. God speed Dan Post.
As I remember Danny in classes together at CHS he was so delightful to chat at length. We discussed my sister-in-law Jackie Adams Turner's dad, LLoyd Adams from Dragoon, who was a team roper with Clarence Post over the years attending the Old-Timers Rodeo in Stillwater, Okla. Small world--- Our sincere sympathy and prayers to the families of Danny. Roger and Karen Turner Snipes
Thoughts and prayers to Patsy, kids and their families. Suzie, Cedar and Cindy
Sooo sorry for your loss. I knew Dan as a classmate at Catalina high
Thank you for everything
Brother Post always made it a point to encourage me to support education by serving on the Pima Community Collee Governing Board, and our community by serving on other non-profit Boards. He always make his support obvious. He encouraged me to contact him with any concerns and questions. All the Boards I have served on over the years are volunteer efforts to serve our community but it was the best time of my life to serve and do my best to follow his footsteps. His family was his greatest support and he appreciated them with his whole heart. Thank you Post family
Such an amazing man that always looked out for our kids and supported them in Rodeo. The Marana Junior Rodeo left cherished memories. Till we see you again!
Our sincere condolences to the entire Post Family, especially to my dear friend Patsy and the children. I will remember Dan for the long friendship that he and my late husband (Eddie Layton) shared. Seventeen years ago Eddie was diagnosed with terminal acute leukemia. While he was in the hospital for 2 months Dan was faithful to come on average 4-5 days per week to visit and to read to Eddie from the scriptures, articles from church magazines and, of course, old cowboy stories and jokes, even recalling a few of their own cowboy escapades. This act of service has had a lasting effect on myself and my three sons. We will miss Dan and his legacy and influence in our community. Jenny Layton Shaw

So sorry to hear this. Love the friendship we felt when we all lived in the Bisbee Ward area, When Dan was in the bishopric and Tricia and Jennifer were babies. I send wwarrmm hugs and love to all.
After years of not attending church, I walked into the chapel. At some point I noticed Dan approaching me. I became a little apprehensive since he always spoke his mind without hesitation, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I got on that day and anytime I saw him there after was a hearty good to see you and how are you doing. Very warm and welcoming. Something I needed during those first months on my return. His strong spirit, conviction, concern for his fellow man, and love of his Savior were always present.
I am so sad to read Dan is no longer here with us but what a legacy. A kind human with a huge heart and great sense of humor is what i will remember most. He was so kind to my mother and i back in the early days of our farm animal sanctuary. Dan was a friend with great advice when i needed it and was always supportive of what we were doing. I’ll never forget him telling me i needed a man to help me and laughed when i explained i had my dog who never complained about food or what was on the television. He never forgot that and laughed about it. He always took time to come to the truck to say hello to mom. We loved seeing him out on the road driving the hay truck. We will sure miss him and have felt the loss of (his feed store) true customer service and support of the community for years.
