Obituary

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother Glenda J Downey. She was an amazing friend to many people and a wonderful grandmother and mother. She suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke and went to fly with her angels on January 26, 2024 at Agave Hills with Merian and Barbie at her side.
Glenda was the first set of fraternal twins, born August 24, 1945, in Santa Clara New Mexico. The family eventually moved to Tucson, AZ.

Lynne Lake, Barbara (Barbie) Deffner and Dodie Ortloff. As she worked full time with her career, learning to balance her life as a devoted mother, hairdresser and wife. She did hair for over 25 years and loved it.
Glenda had 6 grandchildren. Devin and Dale Lake, Kolbe Jones, Mercedes, Kiara and Makayla Ortloff. As she loves them all very much. Glenda also was blessed with 3 great grandchildren as well. One from each of her grandchildren. Pierce Jones, Onyx Lake and Levi Williams.
Glenda had great taste and style. As her lipstick and nails would always match. She was stylish always and kindhearted. She loved to sew and started in high school. Along with many other things in life she also enjoyed gardening, camping, macrame, crocheting, shopping, cooking, horseback riding, arts and crafts. And back in the day she loved playing Bonko monthly with her girlfriends. She loved to watch basketball, Nasar racing #24 Jeff Gorden was her favorite, and baseball.
God blessed Glenda with her 2nd marriage to Dennis (Butch) Downey and they spent many happy years together. As she felt so blessed to have had two loving, and amazing men in her life. Now she’s with her husband Butch in heaven and smiling down on us all.
Glenda spent lots of time up north in Pinetop, AZ at the Downey’s cabin. Where lots of beautiful memories that will forever be cherished were made with her family and friends over many years.
Glenda was a unique woman who will never be forgotten. As she’s at peace now in heaven. We will be honoring her with a celebration of life at The New Life Bible Fellowship. Friday, March 1st at 11:00 AM. Afterwards, all are welcome to honor and share stories at her house.
