Hendrika Cempura

Hendrika “Kiki” Cempura, nee Karels, was born on October 17, 1947, in Amsterdam, Holland to
her parents, Edmund Karels and Hendericka van Randwijk. She is predeceased by her parents,
Edmund and Hendericka, brother Edmund “IPomy” Karels and sister Marijka. She is survived by
her loving husband Edward, her daughter Nancy van de Kaam (Heer Hugowaard, Holland), her
son, Timothy James Stephenson (West Columbia, Texas), her son Mark David Stephenson, Sr.
(West Columbia, Texas, her grandchildren Mark David Thornton Stephenson, Jr. (Lake Jackson,
Texas) snd Amanda Leigh (Thornton) Stephenson (New Caney, Texas) and great-granchildren
Benjamin Edward Cardenas (Lake Jackson, Texas) and Anthony Thomas Parks, Jr. (New Caney,
Texas). She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Socci of Darwin, Australia and a sister, Gerda
Hofmier, in Amsterdam, Holland as well as many nieces and nephews in Holland and Australia.
Our family would like to thank Uba Trejo and her staff at Care Haven for the dedicated care that
they rendered to “Kiki”, making her life more peaceful with less pain and dis-comfort. We
would also like to thank Harmony Hospice a’ild their staff, especially nurses Dorothy, Tanya, and
Jennifer, all of whom made her life more bearable. And a special thanks to Ron Marlin, Chaplain
of Oshyn Hospice, for his spiritual guidance during “Kiki’s” stay in Hospice, first with Oshyn and
then with Harmony.
“Kiki” was a special person, beautiful on the inside as well as on the outside with a personality
unlike any other. May God bless and watch over you until we are together again. “Ik hou van
jou liefje”.
As per “Kiki’s” wishes, there wii be no services. She is to be cremated and her remains
scattered on the waves off the shore of Bryan Beach, Texas where she loved fishing for her
Flounders and big “Reds”.
