John Bent Maple 1943-2019
John, age 75, died January 4, 2019 in Tucson, AZ from complications due to cancer. He was born in California, but spent most of his youth in Yerington, Nevada on the family cattle ranch. He graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor in Forestry and worked for the Forest Service in Montpelier, ID. He returned to CSU and got his Masters in Business Administration. After getting his Masters, he worked as a lumber salesman, mostly for independent sawmills, in various places throughout the western states. For his final job, he imported pine lumber from New Zealand to the US market.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Gurney and Louise Maple. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Maple, of California and his wife of 36 years, Patti Jubrias, who was with him when he passed away. He also had many cousins, Patti’s family that he loved, and nieces and nephews.
John was passionate about all of his hobbies. He was an expert skier which lead him to take a job in Durango, CO. In Durango, he met and married Patti. He loved golf, driving his sports car in Autocross events, regular fitness classes and clay target shooting. John and Patti traveled extensively making a stop on all 7 continents. They visited 50+ countries together and lived in 7 western states, most recently in Tucson, AZ.
Remember John for his quick wit, devotion to family and friends, and his passion for adventure and fitness.
