John “The Greek” Palmer, age 81, passed away Friday evening April 13, 2018, at his home in Tucson, Arizona with his loving family by his side. John was born on May 16, 1936 and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Ann and Leo Palmer. At the age of 17, he went on to honorably and proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Once out of the Marine Corps, John went on to explore many regions of the country during his employment as a truck driver–a job he enjoyed for many years until his retirement in Tucson, Arizona. He enjoyed cars, trucks, fishing, camping, traveling, visiting resorts, good friends, following world events, and discussing politics. John will be sadly missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, who has stood by his side as a life-long partner for 31 years and her daughter, Deidra Becerra and husband Victor and grandchildren, Stephen and Cassie. Surviving family members in Wisconsin and Illinois include daughters, (Jennifer Wise, Kim Moczynski, and Michelle Goodrich and their families), son (John Palmer and family), sisters, (Emily Digaudio, Mary and Sophie), nephew (Rob Friso and family–Marina, Cody, Makayl) and grandchildren, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Services for John will be held at the Marana Mortuary & Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, and he will be buried at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona. May God take him into his gentle arms and deliver him to his loved ones in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to either the Wounded Warriors Foundation, (support.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate) or St Jude’s Children Research Hospital, (https://www.stjude.org/contact-us.html).
