Obituary

Lydia Zaied Dabdoub

February 22, 1936 – December 17 2021

Words cannot even begin to capture Lydia’s beauty and the enormous impact she had on the lives of everyone who loved her. Born on February 22, 1936, to Isaac Zaied and Sultana Dabdoub de Zaied she was their fourth child but she was the first to survive through infancy. She was adored by her parents and grew up to be a strong, classy, fierce redhead.

At the age of 17 she lost her mother and as the oldest of 5 children, the youngest of which was 2 years old, she became a mother figure for her siblings. She went on to have two daughters of her own, Norma (D) and Yamel, whom she loved with all her heart. Despite all the tragedy that befell her in her life she remained steadfast in her faith in God. A faith she sowed in her daughters and granddaughter.

To her granddaughter, Gabrielle, she was a beloved mother. She taught her granddaughter how to tie her shoes, how to drive, and most importantly how to live a life of generosity and love. Lydia did not have much money in life but she always gave to those in need. She would go out of her way to give money to homeless people on the streets, she served the elderly in her community by dedicating her time to visiting them and taking care of them, and she gave her barely worn clothes and shoes to anyone she saw that was in need. Her generosity knew no bounds.

Lastly, Lydia will always be remembered for her class. Aside from her impeccable fashion sense she was also a very forgiving person. No matter how many times she was not treated with kindness and respect that did not stop her from forgiving and always treating others with dignity. She is a great loss from this world and we should all strive to be more like her.

Lydia is survived by her daughter, Yamel Yapur Ruesch; granddaughter, Gabrielle Ruesch; great grandchildren, Ken and Eleanor Noble; and siblings, Abraham Zaied, Norma Zaied de Kury, and Jorge Zaied.
