Obituary:

Margaret Irene (Rogers) Zeches, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep February 5, 2025,  at her home in Tucson, AZ.

Born in Cresco, Iowa, on July 2, 1934, to Jefferson Davis Rogers and Irene (Fox) Rogers, Margaret grew up working in her grandfather’s pharmacy and soda shop. While attending high school in Chicago, she fell in love with a handsome young Airman, Ernie Zeches. They were married in 1956 and enjoyed 64 wonderful years together. They were blessed with six children.

Margaret graduated from Iowa State University, with a degree in home economics and later built her career as a certified clinical dietician, earning her Master’s of Science Degree from Cardinal Stritch.

Margaret was an excellent cook, gracious hostess, skilled seamstress and quilter, and avid reader. She especially enjoyed spending time with her Sunflower Community friends. A life-long Catholic, she was an active member of Our Lady of the Desert Church.

Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children, Patricia Wood, Kathy (George) Jelich,  Mary (Terence) Moore, Anne Zeches and Robert (Charley) Zeches, along with eleven grandchildren: Krystal Bravo, Ashley and Laura Jelich; Christopher, Connor, and Rachael Moore; Sean and Elizabeth Labor; and Aster, Genevieve, and Devon Zeches. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Natalia, Santiago, and Giovanni Bravo. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernie, son William, parents, and siblings–Patricia, Julia, and Joseph.

Margaret will be deeply missed by her family, community, and all those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this summer, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Ernie (AF Veteran) and her son William. The family invites you to honor Margaret’s memory through simple acts of kindness toward others.
