Obituary

Oh what a reunion there was when Marie went to her heavenly home.  Marie Adela Pappas, 76, was born in Bonduel, Wisconsin on March 3, 1947 to Raymond and Doris (nee Barkhaus) Buchholz.  She grew up on the family dairy farm and was active in school activities including drama and band, church, and 4-H.  She graduated from Bonduel High School and went to UW-Oshkosh, earning a degree in Radio and TV Production.  She traveled to the southwest and southeast United States where she met and married Alfred Hartzel.  She later moved to Madison, WI and worked for the state radio station.

She married Gordon Piebenga on August 13, 1978.  They moved to the southwest and lived and worked in Las Cruses, El Paso and Tucson.  They retired in Silver City, NM.  After Gordon passed away in 2014, Marie moved back to Tucson.  She loved the desert.  She was a foodie and enjoyed eating out, especially curry and Mexican food.  She was a wonderful cook.  Marie had artistic talent and was an Art teacher toward the end of her career.  She loved jazz music, Sabaku tshirts, travel and chocolate.
