Robert Anderson

March 15, 1958  –  March 17, 2024

Robert Clifford Anderson, a proud Sergeant First Class (retired) Army Veteran passed away in Tucson, AZ on March 17, 2024.  He had a two-year battle with cancer, and subsequent Interstitial Lung Disease and Pneumonia.

He was born in Lynchburg, VA on March 15, 1958 and was adopted by Robert and Mary Anderson also of Lynchburg, VA. Robert grew up in Lynchburg with his also adopted sister (not related) Franchester. He started playing piano at the age of 5. At age 16 he received a scholarship to attend the North Carolina School of the Arts, where he graduated in May 1976, with special concentration in piano. He continued onto college at the North Carolina School of the Arts and received his Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance in May of 1981.

He had a few jobs after graduation, including working for Liberty University’s music department, and playing for a Lynchburg church before he enlisted in the Army in 1982. His “boot camp” was at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. He completed his training and became a member of several Army Bands including 8th Army, 25th ID, and the 36th Army Band. He was also deployed to Panama during “Operation Just Cause” from 1989-1990. He was a talented musician and also an experienced and dedicated Senior NCO.

He retired out of Ft. Huachuca, Sierra Vista in November 2002. After retirement he then moved to Tucson and continued to work for the Federal Government as a civilian for another 16 years. His final employment was working in Real Estate for Tierra Antigua, which he truly enjoyed. He also served the community by playing piano for several local churches, and an occasional Swing Band performance in the Sierra Vista area.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Boneda Anderson; his sister, Franchester Adedaji (Miller) of N.J., her two daughters and their children. Boneda has three children, Matthew Pfund, Jennnifer Stogner and Michael Pfund. Robert also enjoyed the 8 grandchildren very much. Connor Stogner-16, Preston Stogner-14, Emersyn Pfund-12, Maddux Pfund-10, Trinity Stogner-8, Moyra Pfund-6, Emery Pfund-4 and Jace Pfund-2.

Robert was a loving husband, step-father, step-grandfather and friend. He was the life and light of every party, and he always knew how to put a smile on the face of anyone that crossed his path. He left us too soon, but he left us with our hearts full of love and beautiful memories. Now he is one of God’s angels and will be watching over us from above. Robert, we will continue to love you and will see you again one day in heaven.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10:00 am at New Life Bible Fellowship, 4900 W.
