Saundrae S. “Sallee” Campbell, 75, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois died at 7:34 a.m. March 22, 2024, at home in Marana, Arizona. She worked as an operator at Western Union in Mt. Vernon in her early career, and as a security guard in Tucson, Arizona in more recent years.
Saundrae was born on January 20th, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Cecil D. and Bernice L. “Scott” Sallee. She had one sister, Brenda Diane “Sallee” Wilson. Her parents and sister preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years; Gaylord E. Campbell. They were married on July 12th, 1975, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
She is survived by her two sons, Tahchee G., Cody W., and granddaughter, Briar A. Campbell.
Saundrae was known to love Native American jewelry. She also loved to have a garden of various flowers. She had a broad taste in music, but mostly loved country, ballads of various genres, and 50’s & 60’s rock. She was a dog lover and almost always had a dog around to care for.
