Terry Baxter Ackerman

Terry Baxter Ackerman, age 78, of Marana, AZ passed away on Monday July 22, 2024 at Banner Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.   He was born on September 6, 1945 in Kewaunee, WI, the son of Leo and Calista (Baxter) Ackerman.  Terry graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1963, achieved Eagle Scout status and served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Canisteo during active duty.  He graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1969 where he met his wife, Linda.

Terry began his career as a Personal Banker for Affiliated Bank in Middleton, WI advancing his career as Senior Vice President/Branch Manager for M&I Bank and BMO before retiring in 2016.  His hobbies included spending time with family, traveling to Door County, WI, watching sports, hunting, camping, eagle watching, building a cabin in Hillsboro, WI into a permanent home upon retirement and then relocating to Marana, AZ in 2019.

Terry is survived by his wife, Linda (Matala) Ackerman of Marana, AZ; his son Mark Ackerman of Covington, KY; his daughter Kristin Freeseman of San Tan Valley, AZ; his only grandson Benton Leo Freeseman of Chicago, IL; his brother Robert (Barbara) Ackerman of Cedar City, UT; his sister Mary Jo Seidl of Green Bay, WI; his sister Jean Schriever of Whitewater, WI; many nieces, nephews and their families.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas Ackerman.

Per Terry’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held and he will be buried at the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at Marana, AZ on October 18, 2024.
