Obituary

Terry Pottinger, 62, of Marana, AZ, formerly Norwalk, IA, passed away on April 13, 2024, after bravely battling leukemia cancer for a year. Born on April 1, 1962, to Judy and Stephen Pottinger, Terry’s life was marked by love, resilience, and cherished relationships.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife Vicki, his son Terry Davis, his granddaughter Haley Davis, his stepchildren Stephanie (David) Rouse and Jesse Larimer, and his grandchildren Weslie, Jaiden Rouse, and Thomas Larimer. Terry is also survived by his twin brother Barry (Sandy) Pottinger, niece Jamie Pottinger, sisters Cheri Childress and Sue Pottinger, nephew Taylor Harlan, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Terry’s journey through life was marked by diverse experiences and deep connections. Following his graduation from Hoover High School in 1980, he served in the Army from August 20, 1981, to August 20, 1987, with part of his service stationed in Germany.

Terry was known for his passion for craftsmanship and construction, always dedicating himself to doing his job to the best of his ability, ensuring everything was done right the first time. Whether he was building something, grilling steaks, or playing games on his computer, Terry’s presence was always accompanied by the cheerful tune of Dixie as he whistled away. His encyclopedic knowledge made him the go-to guy for game show questions, often shouting out the answers before the contestants on TV had a chance. Terry’s extensive knowledge enriched his vibrant personality, making every interaction with him captivating and memorable.

In May 2018, Terry joined Raytheon in Tucson, AZ, where he remained dedicated until his illness forced him to step back in April 2023. Throughout his life, Terry exemplified a strong work ethic, but his greatest joy was found in the companionship of his beloved dog, Kona. Their bond was unbreakable, providing solace and comfort, especially during Terry’s final days. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at a later date.
