Post an EventThomas Lucas Wiggins, (Tommy Wiggins) age 93, passed on 7/18/21 in Tucson, Arizona. Born in Illinois, he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy from 1944-1947, serving in both the Atlantic and the Pacific. From a young age it was obvious he possessed a significant musical talent, and after his service in the Navy, and attending the University of Arizona, he performed with his own group throughout the desert southwest, often with some of the most well known performers of the day. From this he became a co-founder of what became the Academy of Country Music. Its yearly award show is televised worldwide. In 2013 he received the Mae Boren Axton award for his years of dedication and service to country music, and a display in the Country Music Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed golf, and for a time was a country club golf pro.
A loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, he is survived by his, his son Thomas Wiggins (Barbara), daughter Tori Ray, and his grandchildren Jack, Brady, and Gracyn Ray, sister Edna Sawicki, half sister Patsy, and his niece Lucille Sawicki.
